Delicious, velvet soft and thick ketchup! Adapted from the Hillbilly Housewife.
Preparation time 5 minutes .. Cooking 5 minutes .. Durability few months (you’ll eat him quick)
INGREDIENTS .. 1-2 jars
- 440 g (4 cans) tomato paste
- 125 g dark brown sugar
- 1 tsp dark mustard seeds, ground
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 pinches of ground clove
- 2 pinches of allspice
- 4 tbsp Black Currant Vinegar
- 100 ml tomato juice (not from the shop)
PREPARATION
Combine all ingredients in a large pot. Original recipe does not process the ketchup on fire but I did as i wanted to store him for later (if we will not finish it before).
Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved and let come to boil. Fill in the prepared and sterilised jars and close well.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge and overnight for the flavors to develop. This ketchup recipe should last for 3 weeks in the fridge. But it will last longer if prepared warm and sterilised.
Use where ever ketchup is called for and enjoy!
