Portuguese caldo verde

Portuguese savoy cabbage soup. No man will resists 🙂

Preparation time 60 minutes


  • 1/2 savoy cabbage
  • 400 g potatoes
  • 1 chorizo sausage
  • 1,5 l chicken broth
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 onion
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • salt & pepper


Peel the potatoes, onion and garlic and cut into pieces. Clean the cabbage clean, cut out the hard veins and cut into fine strips. Cut the chorizo ​​into slices.

Bring the broth to a boil, season it with salt and pepper and let the potatoes, onion and garlic for about 20 minutes into yarn. Strain everything, and keep the broth. Clean the potatoes finely with the masher. Bring the broth back to a boil, throw the cabbage strips and chorizo ​​slices and let cook for 3 minutes. Add the potatoes back to the broth and let back to the boil. Taste and season with salt and pepper.

Serve with freshly baked bread.
