A new cake of Slovak traditional honey cookies. Slovak alternative to typical Belgian pie.
Preparation time 30 minutes .. Baking 120 minutes
INGREDIENTS .. 6-8 pers
- 1 l milk
- 240 g sugar
- 2 eggs
- 400 g sugar syrup
- 1 kl cinnamon
- 1 pinch of mace spice
- 650 g Traditional Slovak honey cookies
Boil 1 liter of milk with the sugar. Grate now the honey cookies and add them to the milk. Beat two eggs and add there the pinch of mace and cinnamon. Finally add another sugar syrup through it and let it boil. Thereafter, the slurry is poured into the heatproof bowl and two hours baked in the oven at about 170°C. The pies may be out of the oven as soon as one is with a knitting needle stick injuries and without that something will stick.
After cooling wrap the pie well in foil and put in the refrigerator. It will taste even better the next day. And before serving, if you wish, you can warm the pie in the microwave.
This recipe is really amazing and with all kinds of cakes similar to gingerbread (cinnamon cookies etc.), because in this way you’ll not lose anything but get a new delicious pie for the family. Gingerbread pudding will be appreciate by all children as a breakfast alternative. It does contain all the nutrients which a young student, or rascal needs and moreover, none resist the sweet breakfast resist. Try it!
Povvi Vlaai can be served also as a dessert. In this case, it is sufficient to decorate with a whipped cream and little berries.
