Plum balls

Typical, East-Slovakian, sweet balls with prunes, that no child can miss.

Preparation time 30 minutes .. Cooking 20 minutes


  • fresh plums, pitted and cut into pieces
  • 5 tbsp breadcrumbs (or ground poppy seeds)
  • 5 tbsp icing sugar
  • 200 g butter
  • 1 tbsp oil


Roll the dough stretched out to a thickness of 3-4 mm and cut into 8×8 cm squares. Fill them with pieces of plums and close them as balls. If you have no fruit, use preferably thick plum jam.

Cook the plums balls in a pot of boiling water. Meanwhile, fry in a pan with 1 tablespoon oil, add the breadcrumbs and melt in another pan the butter. When the balls come up to the surface, take them out and put them in a large, warmed bowl.

Sprinkle the plums balls with fried breadcrumbs (or ground poppy seeds), pour the butter and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Enjoy your meal.

If you do not want to cook, the plum balls immediately freeze them for later in a freezer.
