Another recipe from a serie of “desperate housewife.” I think it’s time to give this it’s own section on POVVI.
Preparation time 10 minutes .. Baking 15 minutes
INGREDIENTS .. 4 pers
- 4 slices of puff pastry
- 300 g young green asparagus
- 300 g finely sliced bacon slices
- 1 box Philadelphia (curd spread)
PREPARATION
I don’t know if elsewhere in Slovakia, but on the east of the country we say that to bring something tasty to the table out of nothing : “making a whip out of shit”. Well, this recipe is about how I experienced it myself, being desperate of not knowing what to make for dinner again.
Preheat the oven to 200°C. Put the slices of puff pastry on the baking sheet and spread the cream cheese on top within 1 cm from the edge of each side. Boil the asparagus in lightly salted water for about 3 minutes, drain them and, still hot, wrap them in slices of bacon. Use one slice of bacon per asparagus.
Put the wrapped asparagus on the prepared pastry and bake in a preheated oven for 15 minutes. Remove them from the oven and serve immediately.
I must admit, that this food is not only incredibly tasty but very nutritious as well.
The curd can be substituted by sheep cheese spread, or yogurt mixed with garlic and herbs.
For sweet lovers I recommend the sweet version of curd sprinkled with small fresh or chopped canned fruit.
