Portuguese tomato soup

Delicious soup from Portugal you can eat cold too.

Preparation time 30 minutes

INGREDIENTS .. 4-6 pers

  • 400 g canned diced tomatoes
  • 1 long red pepper, cut into small pieces
  • 5 cloves of garlic
  • 1,5 liter water
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • 2 slices of hearty bread, chopped
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • salt & pepper


Mix the tomatoes, paprika, bread and water (in a blender) until a solid mixture. If necessary, add some water. Mash the cloves of garlic with salt to form a paste. Put the oil with the paprika powder in a pan and heat all around gently for 1 minute. Stir in the garlic and then pour the tomato mixture there. Make the soup to taste with salt and pepper, then bring to a boil. Under stirring occasionally, simmer for 10 minutes.

Serve with bread or bread sticks.
