Another fantastic, tasty and very cheape recipe. I’m not going to compare prices, I’ll just say that here in Belgium you’ll not find a restaurant where you you can get a meal for the whole family for only €7.
Preparation time 90 minutes .. Baking 25-30 minutes
INGREDIENTS .. 4-6 pers
- 500 g minced beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh rosemary
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh thyme
- salt & pepper
SECOND LAYER ..
- 1/2 savoy cabbage, in pieces
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 tbsp oil
- 50 ml water
- salt & pepper
THIRD LAYER ..
- 1 kg loose potatoes
- 1 dl of milk
- knob of butter
- nutmeg
- salt & pepper
PREPARATION
First prepared the meat: Saute the onion until translucent in olive oil, add minced beef, thyme and rosemary and cook until grainy. Season with salt and pepper and add a little meat broth. Allow to simmer and ready.
I had some whole grain rice from the day before and did not throw it away. So I added it also to the meat. But you do not have to do it.
Then boil the potatoes in salted water. Strain, add the butter and milk and mix together. Season with nutmeg, salt and pepper and keep warm side.
Finally ready the savoy cabbage: fry the onion until translucent in a deeper pot. Add chopped savoy cabbage and cook even baking. Add some salt and pepper and mix well together. Then add a little water and simmer the cabbage, stirring occasionally until al dente.
Grease the pan with butter or oil. Place the first layer of the meat inside it. Put bearing the coat of savoy cabbage and finally the mashed potatoes.
Preheat the oven to 180°C and bake the hachis for 25-30 minutes until the potatoes get nice golden crust.
Serve with a glass of cider or white wine.
