It is precisely this one Slovak classic between sweet dishes that children who are visiting Slovakia always say: “Oh, Slovak children eat desserts as main course!”:) Well, after this dish and glass of milk every baby is sleeping like an angel.
Preparation time 15 minutes .. Rising 30 minutes .. Steaming 8 minutes
INGREDIENTS .. 4 pers
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/4 cup melk
- 21 g yeast
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 egg
- 150 g butter
- 1 tbsp cocoa
- 3 tsp caster sugar
- jam, chocolate, of fruits as filling
PREPARATION
From 1 dl milk, yeast and a little sugar and let it 15 minutes ferment. Sift the flour into a bowl, make a hole in the middle, put it into the egg, oil and rest of sugar. Add fermented yeast and add enough milk until a semi-supple dough. Let it rise for 30 minutes covered and in a warm place.
After proving roll the dough to a thickness of about 5 mm and cut into squares about 3,5 inch. Fill them with jam, fruit or chocolate, enclose a form into buns.
Boil water in a saucepan and put the steamer inside. Grease it with oil, so the buns will not stick while steaming. Put about 6 buns into a pan, cover them and steam on a moderate heat for 8 minutes. In meanwhile, melt butter in a frying pan and in a small bowl mix together cocoa and caster sugar for sprinkling.
When buns are ready serve them on heated plate, sprinkle with a mixture of cocoa and sugar and pour over with little melted butter.
